How to add a Newsletter signup form to your website or blog in under 2 minutes

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Over the next few months, we plan to release several widgets that can be added to your very own website or blog with no coding effort or development expertise required.

The first of these widgets, is the “Sendible Newsletter Signup” widget.

What it does?

The Sendible newsletter widget lets visitors to your website opt in to SMS messages and/or email newsletters from your company. When a visitor to your site signs up, they’ll be added to your Sendible Address Book and to any contact group you choose. This allows you to send out marketing material and company news straight from your Sendible account.

How to get it

If you’re already a Sendible user, simply sign in and click on the widgets tab or visit this link: http://www.sendible.com/widgets.

If you’re not already registered, you can sign up to Sendible here.

From the widget configuration page, you’ll be able to select which fields you’d like to have appear in your Newsletter/Opt-in form. The available fields are: firstname, lastname, fax, occupation, telephone, mobile phone, company name and postal address. You can also customise the “Sign Up” button text and decide where on your site the user should be directed to after signing up.

The Sendible Newsletter widget takes on the look and feel of your site.

The Sendible Newsletter widget takes on the look and feel of your site. You can decide which fields you need to capture. The image above shows all available fields.

Once you’ve configured your widget, you can click the “Get Code” button. You’ll be shown the tiny piece of code you’ll need to cut and paste onto the page of your site on which you’d like your widget to appear.

Why it’s great

The Sendible Newsletter widget is a fantastic way to add newsletter functionality to your site for very little cost and without having to hire web designers and developers. The widget will automatically take on the look and feel of your website. You can also make use of Sendible’s powerful messaging technology to reach your customers straight from Sendible via Email and SMS messaging. As soon as a user signs up, they’re automatically added to your Sendible contacts address book and you can schedule monthly, weekly or daily alerts to go out.
